Rough grading must comply with municipal regulations to ensure safety, drainage, and environmental standards
- Finished grading must direct surface water away from buildings and towards approved drainage systems
- Slopes must not exceed maximum permitted gradients per City standards to prevent erosion or safety hazards
- Grading near utilities, easements, and property lines must meet City setback and clearance requirements
- Compliance with stormwater management and drainage bylaws is required
Important Note on Rough/ Final Grading
If a customer chooses to proceed directly to final grading in Edmonton, the rough grading and final grading can be completed together on-site, and the customer may apply directly for final grading approval without a separate rough grading inspection.
